Systems Engineer - Requirements Management Lead

Position Details

Lead requirements management effort for large-scale, distributed air traffic control system, working closely with system stakeholders, FAA program management representatives, and system vendors
Develop and execute a requirements management plan
Interact with multiple requirements specification development teams to define system requirements
Establish traceability between concepts of operation, system requirements, system architecture, technical performance measures, and other metrics
Analyze and validate requirements
Establish and lead a requirement change control board
Evaluate the necessity of new requirements and proposed requirements changes and associated technical, cost, and schedule impacts
Provide technical feedback on system requirements derived by system vendors
Participate in system design reviews and provide feedback on design documentation
Track requirements verification status
Review and track waivers, deviations, and system problem reports
Prepare and deliver briefings to government customer concerning requirements validation status, recommended changes, and verification status
Participate in program risk management board to identify and mitigate system requirements related risks
Minimal travel required (approximately 5-10% of time)

B.S. in Systems Engineering or related field
8+ years experience in developing system requirement specifications
5+ years experience in planning and leading requirements development teams / tasks

Familiarity with Automatic Dependent Surveillance – Broadcast (ADS-B), Traffic Information Service – Broadcast (TIS-B), Flight Information Service – Broadcast (FIS-B) concepts / technologies
Understanding of FAA air traffic control systems, including surveillance and automation
Familiarity with GPS, navigation systems, and sensor data tracking
Familiarity with FAA acquisition programs
Experience with DOORS requirements traceability tool
